Welfare Measures and Schemes for Defence Personnel in Chandigarh. The following welfare benefits have been extended by Chandigarh Administration to the defence personnel and their dependents by way of reservations, scholarships, and monetary grants:

Reservations

113% reservation in Govt Jobs from Group ‘A’ to ‘D’.
25% seats in Engineering, Polytechnic, Nursing Training and LLB reserved for wards of Ex-servicemen.
31% seats (minimum one seat) reserved in colleges for direct descendants of Kargil Martyrs.
45% dwelling units by Chandigarh Housing Board reserved for Defence Personnel/Ex-servicemen.
51% extra houses reserved for blind and physically handicapped Ex-servicemen.
65% reservation of industrial sheds for Ex-servicemen.
7No domiciliary restrictions for wards of defence personnel/widows for education.Free bus travel in CTU buses for war widows.

Stipend / Scholarships

150 one-time scholarships of ₹10,000 to wards of Ex-servicemen/widows with 60% marks in 10th/12th.
2₹33,000 per annum to cadets of RIMC Dehradun (residents of UT, Chandigarh).
3₹250 per month to servicemen trainees in post-release training at ITIs.

Courses

1Free 6-month computer course for 25 Ex-servicemen or their dependents.
